Greater Geary Community Foundation Prepares for Geary Community Match Day Event

JUNCTION CITY, KS, May 6 -- The Greater Geary Community Foundation (GGCF) Executive Board is preparing for their inaugural Match Day fundraising event. Geary Community Match Day will be held Tuesday, May 14 from 7am to 5:30pm at the Junction City Municipal Building Auditorium. Donors can stop by the auditorium at 700 N. Jefferson Street to make a donation to their choice of 26 different local nonprofit funds. Qualifying donations will receive a 50% match, with each participating charity receiving a maximum of $5,000 in matching funds. R2B4 Bramlage Family Foundation and Central Charities Foundation have each pledged $20,000 for a total of $40,000 in
available matching funds.

Donations may also be made online from 12am to 11:59pm on May 14 at www.gearymatchday.com, but GGCF encourages donors to make their gifts in person when possible. Every hour throughout the event, an individual donor who has made an in-person gift will be randomly chosen to win $50 dollars for the charity of their choice.

Greater Geary Community Foundation is an affiliate of Greater Manhattan Community Foundation (GMCF), and GMCF staff help to coordinate Match Day efforts. At GMCF’s 7th Annual GROW Green Match Day on April 22, 58 nonprofit organizations participated, and GMCF staff and volunteers collected local gifts of $520,082 raising a total of $744,045 after the matching funds were calculated.

The Greater Manhattan Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization providing a simple, powerful, and highly personal approach to giving by building relationships between donors and community needs. GMCF was established in 1999 in Manhattan, KS and has since expanded to serve 12 affiliate community foundations in the region.
