Pony Up Marysville this Friday

Pony Up Marysville this Friday

Want to make a difference in the Marysville community? Pony Up Marysville match day is this Friday (5/3/19).

To get ready for the town’s major fundraising event, local nonprofits are preparing table displays advertising their organizations’ missions and needs.
The tables will line the banquet room at the Helvering Community Center, where Pony Up Marysville will be run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. by the Marysville Community Foundation board.

Donors should make checks to MCF and then designate on a donation form where they want their dollars to go. Donations can also be made in cash or credit card.

Foundation board members will be available to help with the form at the event or it can be printed from the website, ponyupmarysville.com, and brought in with a donation.
Donations can also be made by credit card on the website from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Friday.

A list of all funds participating this year are printed in this week’s Advocate on the Pony Up advertisement on page 10B. The funds also are listed on the website.
Those who want to draw a 50 percent match for their gifts should strive to donate early in the day, said foundation board president Jeff Crist, before match money runs out.
“This is our third annual Pony Up. We anticipate it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before,” Crist said. “I’m absolutely blown away every year by how generous our community is.”

There are $40,000 in match dollars available this year, donated by Marysville’s three local banks, an anonymous donor, the Leo Ring Trust and the foundation.
“We have more match money this year and more funds participating,” Crist said, “and we have no idea when that match money might run out.”

Match dollars have been used up about midway through the day on past Pony Up Marysville events. People can track the match day’s progress on the website under “Leaderboard,” which will be updated as gifts come in.

Each fund is eligible to draw up to $2,000 in match money as long as it’s available. But people are welcome to continue giving throughout the day. Each fund has critical needs that the donations can help with right away.

Tables are available to all participating nonprofit funds. They are welcome to set them up at 7 a.m. as the day opens.

“If people have questions on what the money will be used for, volunteers at their groups’ tables will be able to answer them,” Crist said.

“I’m just really, really excited,” he said, adding that in his 37 years in Marysville he has seen a lot of generosity. “Our community takes care of one another and this is the perfect example.”
