Greater Manhattan Community Foundation Prepares for 10th Annual Grow Green Match Day

The Greater Manhattan Community Foundation staff, Executive Board, and volunteers are preparing for the 10th Annual Grow Green Match Day event, to be held Friday, April 22. 

Individuals will be able to donate to their choice of 72 different local nonprofit funds in person from 7am to 6pm at the Colony Square atrium at 555 Poyntz Avenue or online from 12am to 11:59pm at www.growgreenmanhattan.com. Donations from $25 to $1,000 to each organization will receive a 50% match provided by the Howe Family Foundation -- a supporting organization of GMCF.  Each participating fund will receive a maximum of $10,000 in matching gifts.

Every hour throughout the event, an individual donor who has made an in-person gift will be randomly chosen to designate $100 dollars to the organization of their choice.

Gifts made on Grow Green Match Day will be available for use at each funds discretion, and the match money received will go toward the charities endowed fund.  Grow Green Match Day provides each charitable fund with an opportunity to raise dollars for their operating expenses, enrich their programs, and grow their endowed fund for an even greater impact for years to come.

At last year’s Grow Green Match Day, 69 nonprofit organizations participated, and GMCF staff and volunteers collected local gifts of $1,108,922.45, raising a total of $1,486,434 after the matching funds were calculated.  The past two years have been online events only, but gifts this year will be received both in-person and online.

The Greater Manhattan Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization providing a simple, powerful, and highly personal approach to giving by building relationships between donors and community needs. GMCF was established in 1999 in Manhattan, KS and has since expanded to serve 15 affiliate and partner community foundations in the region.
