Mayor Hogelin Declares Dec. 3 “Giving Tuesday” in Parsons, KS

PACF Community Event Dec. 3 encourages citizens to “Give Where they Live”

The Parsons City Commission issued a Mayoral Proclamation Monday evening declaring Tuesday, December 3 as “Giving Tuesday” in Parsons Kansas. Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. The official proclamation encourages locals “to join together to give back to the community in any way that is personally meaningful.”

To celebrate, the Parsons Area Community Foundation has planned their fourth annual Giving Tuesday Community Event from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the New Cardinal Event Center, 1306 Main, in Parsons.

“We invite everyone from across the Parsons Area to stop by anytime that day to learn about nonprofit agencies serving Labette and Neosho counties, have some food donated by local restaurants, and make a contribution of any size if they are able,” said Joan Vitt, Parsons Area Community Foundation Executive Director. “This is always such a heartwarming holiday event and a great way to find out about the good things happening in our area.”

Last year, Giving Tuesday raised $150,130 for 16 agencies across the local area, including $30,000 in matched funds from the Parsons Area Community Foundation and a generous donation from Tank Connection. This year, 17 local agencies are participating and will have informational tables at the Dec. 3 event. Contributions can be made in-person by check, cash or charge, or online at www.pacfgivingtuesday.com
